When XFX turns bad... (and then turns good again!) - Page 5

no mention of double lifetime on the Europe warranty , but take a look at the USA warranty.
Maybe you do have double lifetime on a UK warranty but i have never been offered this in the UK

I have all so asked them via there ticket service about over clocking and warranty.

[ 27/12/2007 23:38:32] Hi there.Have my card now for a week or so and i am very very pleased with it.I would like to ask about my uk warranty and can i overclock the card and still be covered with the warranty.I see that in the USA XFX owner get a overclock warranty I hope we in the Europe do too. Thanks Nigel
[SHAUN_T 31/12/2007 16:48:51] Hi, thanks for your message, we do not recommend overclocking as this can damage your card and void the warranty. However if you still wish to do so, we recommend ntune. If you see any errors when overclocking we do advise to reset everything back to default. The link for ntune is: http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html Regards, Shaun.

Just seen this at the bottom of the USA warranty page on the XFX site

"To request a Double Lifetime Protection repair, simply go to our Help Desk and fill out a Support Ticket.

This exclusive program is valid only to purchases made in North America (USA or Canada)."

I personally dont see this as a problem, but it is something buyers should be aware of if buying XFX cards in the UK or Europe

Thats just silly...why does overclocking make any difference over here compared to the US. There must be a reason..its best be a good one lol.

Please let me know when you receive the card and if all is ok.

This thread was pointed out to me by one of my technicians, alot of them are keen gamers etc themselves, and they do look at some forums, although not in an official capacity.

many thanks

I'll see what happens in a few days

I'm so impressed by their help

I am going to hazard a guess and say marketing.

US market is a lot more competitive with there warranty,s, with 3 or 4 different company's offering modder/over clock friendly warranty,s on there gfx cards to attract customers.

Is there any gfx card company's offering this type of modder/over clock friendly warranty in the UK ?

But as i say, i am just guessing, but if there is other company's offering better warranty on gfx cards in the UK, then i will buy from them next time, simple as that.

you do realise if they found no problems with the card then it was mostlikely some incompatability issue with your system or mostlikely overheating 98% positive it was overheating, thats not RMA'able

Nope. All temps were under 60c. Not overheating
post #48 of 99
Just my two cents here: could OCN and XFX come to some kind of deal where XFX has their own forum? It could be very beneficial to both parties if it can be implemented well.

well if its locking up it suggests straight away overheating and those are probably wrong unless ur on WC the G80 sometimes Idles at around 50-60 and can go as 90 under load

Well, it wasn't locking up as such. The screen would flicker black for 10 seconds and then everything would freeze. I sent it straight back to XFX and it works fine for them?
