I'm assuming that once it's set up, you're good to go even after a restart?

i think when you re start, if you don't still have the monitor set up, then you have to do the monitor thing again.

Eh, he just said you needed to have SLI _off_. Crossfire is probably the same thing, therefore should work with most cards, I suppose. However I've never used Crossfire so I can't fully tell.

And having to unplug/replug sounds kinda nasty, though... I guess this is just lazy me speaking though.

Anyone write a guide for XP?

With the need for the additional vga to be plugged in is that a windows requirement or the motherboard and bios?

Those of us with onboard video can choose to use either onboard vga or both in our bios so will we still have this issue?

To change the machine ID number for your gpu just configure your settings by opening the .cfg file located in the folding@home gpu folder. Open it with notepad.

Notice on the top left hand corner I have highlighted machine number. Change the number to what you want then save and restart the client. Check the log file to make sure you have done it correctly. I guess you only have to change one but if you have more then one card you would need to change multiple cfg files.
Attachment 77642

I don't think a lot of people have noticed this. I'm not sure what the effects are by not changing your machines number but I remember I kept getting the same projects on both cards at the same time. This stopped after I changed the machine ID numbers.

I think its a windows/client requirement. In order for the client to use the GPU it needs to be active, and the only way for it to be active is to be extended in windows. I don't think you can do this through bios or mobo because it only becomes active when you plug in a monitor/resistor and enable it under windows. I hope I understood your question correctly.
