How to use Multi GPU Nvidia Folding - Page 7

yep. I see no reason why not, as long as the drivers play nice with both cards.

So, is that "50%" with two GPU2 clients?

Vista Ultimate 64-bit, two 8800GTS 640MB (G80) cards, and a Celeron D 356 @ 3.33GHz (Stock).

CPU usage dances between 20% and 40% per client, with an average of roughly 33% per client. Thus, total CPU load is under 70% most of the time. And that's a single core Celly.

is that 25% referring to one core on full load? I may have phrased it wrong, as for me, 50% load was one core maxed out. For a quad, that means one core maxed out is 25% which makes sense for you.

I assume with those higher loads, you are under XP... If you got a spare/ separate harddrive, try changing your folding rigs to Vista32 or 64bit.... You have alot more potential with Nvidia GPU folding (Not sure about ATI....) but I experienced first had that on the same hardware, clockrates, and drivers - Vista32(is what I tested) SMOKED XP32 in terms of PPD.....

XP: SMP=2100; GPU=5-6.6kPPD combined
Vista32: SMP:3200; GPU 8.5-9.8kPPD combined (13k on one rig)

This was done on my sig rig testing

Nice

My dad had an old celeron sitting here... but it only has PCI slots I wonder if I could just get a diff mobo and make my own folding rig pick up an 8800 G92 core or somethin and be smokin away!!!

13k off a single pc is massive!

Because of your post I just bought vista 64bit ultimate. Currently I'm getting 9,500 off my sig rig with regular xp...will report back when vista gets here.

Hahah nice Well once you get used to how Vista works, and set it up to your liking - You will probably like it much like the few other users who actually saw benefits in Vista

Tip: dont install drivers that are not needed... IE: if you have sound.. don't go and install a sound driver >_>

yeah there are other ways but this is way the easyiest of them.
Youll see the hack your looking for on the F@H flaming thread [im not 100%] but pretty sure.
i get 12-14k a day and climbing those charts quikly now well in top 400 from 1000+ in a week.
8800gt are great folders.
download the normal 503 or 504 client for cpu and intall then download the GPU client 2 and install.
now you can fold with graphics and cpu/s
to start both you may need to start the cpu f@h app first then gpu second other wise itll crash.

Im not going to change them all to Vista though especially when I have select licencing allowing unlimited XP installations.

2 x GPU per PC is fine as long as you have dual core or quad.
GPU2 on xp for me only loads 1 core so there are 3 cores left to allocate another GPU2 and 2 x Vmware.

A good cheep OCable MB and RAM with an 8800 powered by a cellery, sure why not

OT, but I do wish FAH could get the ATI 4xxx to utilize all the shaders. Currently the ATI GPU2 is is only set up to use the 320 of the 3xxx series and not the 800 on the 4xxx. So, since I can pull 2200ish from a 3780 with 320 I can only wonder how much higher the PPD on an 4xxx using all 800 shaders might do. But then what will the alleged 2000 shaders do on the next gen ATI when the 40nu GPUs hit the first of next year
