Well then the laptop section would be filled with "Don't buy laptops with nVidia GPUs!!! They will burn your house down!"
But still...the article said this pertained to desktop and mobile versions. I think would be at least a few posts by people with zero rep asking what is wrong with their video card.
If I can find some thing some where else that co-insides with this I might believe it. I also want to see if I can dig up any numbers that might show that more laptops are being sold with nVidia GPUS then before and thus there is a higher amount of failures...that would just be a game of statistics there, but I don't know what the numbers are right now.
And what is this about actual fires? I once helped volt mod a pentium3 so that it was getting about 8 volts and could not be shut down in an attempt to start it on fire. Capacitors popped first... this is the first internet search I am doing after I hit submit here. Aside from batteries exploding...I've never heard of a computer starting on fire. Some shorted wires...a puff of smoke from the PSU, yes, but actual flames? No way...
