Anyone running Maximus Formula & 4870's or 4850's

Thread Starter
Just want to know if you're having any problems with this combo (Asus Maximus Formula and ATI 4850's or 4870's) like MOBO shutoff and never came back or stuck at CPU Init state.

I had this issue through crossfiring with two 4850's. I've found another person having the same problem. I had to RMA the MOBO back to Asus.

I haven't had that problem because I don't own the GPU but that really concerns me because I was really looking to get one of the HD 4000 series, but probably the 4870 x2. I just hope that it doesn't have the same problem. And did you check to make sure that you have a big enough power supply, because I have a 650w and I really don't think it'll be up to par with me putting in a 4870 x2.

Eeesh, was about to order a 2nd 4870. Had ZERO problems with twin 3870x2's in the maximus formula, and am now running a single 4870 with no problems either. Good luck with Asus man. My only advice is call them EVERY day and bug the hell out of them or they'll take a month+ on your board. I did two RMA's with my maximus formula before I got a new one that actually worked, took 3 months, and the rampage came out. Niiiceeee...

Crossfiring 4850's on Foxconn P35A with no problems whatsoever.
So it's not the video cards. I had the latest bios 1201 on that Maximus too.
Now I'm waiting on Asus and probably will have to bug them everyday now...great....
