What should my next upgrade be? - Page 2

I would work on getting a sound card and some nice headphones/speakers. I've had the X-Fi XtremeGamer for awhile and I love it. Just recently I've bought the HD555 headphones and the combination is wonderful.

Your computer looks like it can run most things very well, so I'd try to make improvements to enhance your experience. Things such as sound, or mouse/keyboard, or monitor(s) etc.

Well I'd change out your motherboard or just save your cash for AMD Shanghai.

Shanghai will be a good upgrade, so you could get an AM2+ mobo now and be ready for it.

(Shanghai will work on AM2+ right? Sans DDR3 of course)

Your rig still looks decent to me. 6400BE with 8800GTS 512mb. Unless you aren't happy about it, I would save money for now. Processors wide, in current market, none of processors (except extreme edition) will give you significant performance boost. But this just my opinion thou. If you do need an upgrade and stick with AMD, you can upgrade your better board and keep the 6400 for now. Liked Penicilyn said, may get ShangHai when it is available and the price is right. On the intel side, nahalem will need a different socket board so rush to get a board may not a good deal now. Regarding GPU, there are many selections on different price range. It is worthy it to take a look at 4850, 4870, GTX260 even 8800GTS sli depending on what board you have.
