8800GT bottlenecking?

Thread Starter
Im just wondering if somewhere or somehow my 8800GT is being bottlenecked. I am wondering this because in the crysis demo's built in GPU benchmark i only get 36FPS on everything high @ 1280x1024, all review that i have read go from 44FPS-48FPS at these settings, is it that im running the demo and not the retail or there is some bottlenecking occuring, as i only have pci express x16 while the card is pci express 2.0? BTW my card is overclocked at 748/1809/1100(2200). I also get 13464 in 3dmark06.

The CPU shouldn't be a problem at that clock speed. Is your 8800GT a 512MB or 256MB version? Do you have Anti-Aliasing turned on? AA isn't particularly friendly on GPU's in Crysis.

It shouldn't be bottlenecking with your rig. Ming is bottlenecking my CPU real hard.

Apparently your performance seems consistent with what he achieved, and he's running a Q6600.

Crysis:
Settings:
1280*1024/no AA/High Q
Avg FPS: 31.96
Min FPS: 16.92
Max FPS: 36.24
GPU: 601/1512/900 @66C@100%rpm

Thats what im getting at 748/1809/1100.

I guess ill just have to borrow crysis from someone to see if my FPS increzses, BTW im using 177.35 drivers with PhysX, and i know crysis doesn't support PhysX

Thanks for the link, i guess the reviews i saw were just because they had the full version.

Why are you using those drivers? They are not 100% stable yet and might be the cause of your low framerates?

Try using the 175.16 or 175.19 drivers. See if that helped your performance.
