I see a few problems with this.

First, you say that you need to be in the top 20 producers to have a chance to win the quad. What's the point of giving another quad to someone who already has a beastly setup? I think we should focus more on say, WUs done in a week or something. That'll give the console and SMP folders a much better chance over someone with a quad gpu setup.

If you do still go with the 20 producer thing, I would hope the timeframe would be extended. The top 20 producers are...well...produced by the top 20 ppd in a single team. If someone was to load up their "farm", it takes 7 days at max to create an accurate ppd (the way EOC does it).

Cog runs the giveaway, and she sets the rules.

Plus, most WU's in a week gives the GPU folders an even greater advantage (a single GPU cranks out about 8 of those 479 pointers every day, while an SMP client cranks out 2 1760's every day, if your lucky).

And why would extending the timeframe help? You say it takes a week... Well, July 31 is more than a week away, so you have ample time to get the farm ready and going at full blast for the last week of July.

(of course I am in the top-20 right now, so... )

I misread her post. I thought it was JUST July 21st......I dunno what I thought.

At either rate, this sort of excludes Console folders. Not everyone is a power folder. In my opinion, as much as I would love the quad, it should go to someone who NEEDS it. But this is Cogs competition, and I think that it's great that she's doing it! Don't get me wrong. I just wanted to voice my opinion on what could make it better.

Awesome cog! This should get our ppd up a bit

I gotta say I agree but thinking about it I can't think of a fairer way that will (hopefully) bump our ppd as much as this will.

Kudos to you Cog for the comp, kindness and dedication to 37726

Be in the Top 20 producers list for 24hrs for OCN on July 31 2008
(http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...php?s=&t=37726)

All the names in that list at 12pm GMT on the 31st July 2008 will go into the name draw and 1 of those names will be shipped free of charge a Q6600 Quad core processor G0 (used)

This will motivate people for maximum points production and the fun of jostling for positions.

To be eligible and to hopefully prevent one day folders you must have been a member of Overclock.net from June 2008 or earlier.

Please try and make this a fun forum competition and play fair, the ultimate goal is to inspire people to fold for a great cause!

FOLD ON!

Nice Cog, very nice!

If you would for me, please remove me from the list... I think I fit the parameters, but I also think someone more fitting should receive the prize/gift...

Thanks in advance, :-)

Way to go Buick! Would you please remove me also. Great idea Cog, not only are you marching up the folding ranks, but your giving our fellow members this great opportunity.
