Before lapping my HSF and CPU

Thread Starter
I'd like to know if theres any special type of sandpaper I need to purchase or can I just go to the local home depot and purchase some every day stuff. I'm not looking to do a mirror finish, just want to lower my temps a bit. Thanks in advance, +rep for saving me money and a huge mistake if I'm wrong!

I dont listen to rap.. I listen to hip hop.. which is REAL music.. most that think they know what hip hop is, usually generalize it with RAPPERS like lil john, chingy, and idiots like them..

real hip hop.... Blackstar, Bahamadia, Aesop Rock, Living Legends, Heiro, El-P, Mr. Lif.. THOSE are real hip hop artists..

^^..Lol talk about off topic..now back on topic..Well try to get Wet and Dry sandpaper..you should be able to get all the grades you need from a car parts/body shop..start off at 400 grit work upto 2000 grit for a mirror finish...if you dont want a mirror finish then upto 800 will be fine for you and is sure to drop your temps a decent bit depending on how uneven your cpu and hsf are.

yeah like someone said go to automobile shop. and if you're still thinking of going to home depot first to check, dont because i went thru this and home depot only has rlly low grit paper, and i wasted my time. ended up going to local car parts shop. (i could be wrong abt your home depot tho :S)

Yeah, I live in Kentucky and it always seems we have the least of the least when it comes to EVERYTHING at any of our stores here. Unless of course you live in Louisville... which I don't! I'll have to make a call up there and see what they carry, thanks for all the helpful info guys!
