My first OC - Opinions?

Thread Starter

I had it for a few hours at 1.232v in cpuz, then one core failed prime. I upped for notches in bios to 1.32500, now it stays 1.264, sometimes 1.248

I realize this is low, but it is not unheard of. I am running a 9700 zalman, and GA-EP35-DS3L

the memory is stock settings corsair xms2 ddr2 800, not the dhx, but the black heat spreader version. I dont think i could push it farther (can I?)

I bumped mch +.1 and that's really it!

good?

Nice OC... 4ghz, that's impressive. The best I can hit with my rig is 3.3

your not happy with that?

I am very happy with it. If i didnt have this ram, I would keep going though.... seems like I have a good clocker.

btw....

nearly 5 hours in on the stress test, will post to the oc thread when done. 1.264 volts is pretty damned good I see.

Yeah, it's a 45nm, they don't take up much power like a 65 does. I bumped my E6400 (a 65nm) to 3.2 (over a full GHz as well ) with 4GB of G.Skill 1066 first try, worked like a charm. My mobo was a DFI LANPARTY DK X38, so I'm glad to see that your board performs as well on the other side of things.

77c is over the thermal limit of the chip i believe

Most programs have strange interpretation of the 45nm core temps. Through comparison to bios and much discussion, real temp is the way to go, and it may be a few degrees high. The 67c max was a short lived event, the majority of my prime95 test was 59-60.
