Back from being off this forum since 2006

Thread Starter
hey everyone just came back from a long haitus off these forums. one reason i have come back being that i have recently decided to totally seperate my workstations from my pc entertainment, and to accomplish this have recently begun buying the parts for a pure multimedia/gaming rig, and wanted to know the skinny on peoples experiances. ill also be upgrading my workstations as well.

another being i miss the place lol. i cant for the life of me figure out why i left.

current workstations are athlon64 3700+ both with 2 gigs of ram, nvidia 7600gt video cards, dedicated 1gb ethernet connection between them both with dual 19 inch monitors set up so all 4 monitors act as one desktop. they are also totally networked sharing drives and printers, etc etc. im still in the planning stages of what to do with them upgrade wise. though i have a pretty good idea. i will be OC these on air.

im currently building a phenom64 quad core black edition 9600 based system. this will be the entertainment pc. so far i have the cpu, the 4100mp multimedia hd projector, wireless mouse and keyboard, creative labs 7.1 surround sound sound card, and hd tv tuner card. this will be OC first on air then water. the rest of this system im in the process of deciding what to buy etc etc.

so basically im saying hello to all, and will be joining threads to find out others experiances with different components. good to be back.

XIXWYRMEXIX welcome back

One thing to note, if you're going with a Phenom processor try and pick up a 9850BE. So far I've only heard great things about that particular black edition processor. Try and stay away from the 9500/9600 series. Apparently those came with the TLB bug...which is not really a big deal if your not running any virtualization software but how could you deny an unlocked multiplier on a quad core 9850!

Good luck

Welcome Back,

Definitely go with a 9850BE, they can sometimes reach 3.0Ghz with a good motherboard.
