RMA'ing PSU Through Newegg

Thread Starter
Will Newegg RMA a PSU without the UPC code? I ask because I am planning on buying an OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU through Newegg, but to get my rebate, I am required to mail in the UPC code to OCZ within 12 days of the original purchase date. However, I am waiting until the 20th for the Intel price cuts to buy my CPU, and hence I won't be able to boot up my system to make sure the PSU is functioning properly.

So, if I find out that the PSU is defective when I finally build my system (around the 23rd maybe?), will Newegg RMA my PSU without the original UPC code?

I asked on Newegg live chat, and she said "Unfortunately, you should send back the original UPC code to us" - however I've RMA a graphics card before without the original UPC code (and a missing S-video cable)

Anyone have experience in this situation?

Will you be going for a cash refund, or just getting the same one back ?

Same one - I don't think you will have a problem. Wait fro more replies just in case.

You need the original UPC for the rebate. You also need the original UPC for returns. Kinda catch-22. My advise, build you system as quickly as possible. Test it and if all is good, send in the rebate.

Dear Customer,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately we would need that UPC code on the item or the RMA will not be processed and the item send back to you. Please go ahead and send me a PM with your order information so I may further look into this for you. You may also contact me at 800 390-1119 ext 25040 or by email at alex.a.villarino@newegg.com.

What you want to do is if you have a problem with the PSU, do an RMA through OCZ for an exchange. They don't need the UPC... heck, they don't even need the box! OCZ has good support so you'll get the replacement just as fast as if you went through Newegg.
