Something to take under consideration, but are those few MHz worth the extra money? I didn't figure that CPU would be a bottleneck or anything. 1280x1024 is the resolution games will be played at."

At 1280x1024, the CPU is the bottleneck in quite a lot. It's not a very demanding resolution. Unless you're confident that 4600+ can hit 3GHz+, go with the 5000+ BE. Unfortunately, the one on canadacomputers isn't a BE. They're getting harder to find new as AMD has EOL'd the chip. I believe TigerDirect still has some in stock.

That looks like a pretty good system for the price. The CPU you selected is pretty decent, but go for the BE if you can find one.

The CPU isn't bad, but it's 90nm which leads to high consumption and lower OCability. I strongly advice the 5000BE if you afford it, or any other X2 Brisbane G2 revision CPU.

*EDIT And if you have a few coins left, see for a 4GB ram kit, they tend to be useful.

Does it have to be AMD? intel's CPU performs alot better in games, i would recommend a P45 chipset with a e8400, e8200 or a e6600 if ur on a tight bugdet and the P45 will alow u to XFire later when u have the bugget. if u are not planning to Xfire go for the p43 chipset

Gillos, apparently the average OC for the 4600+ X2 Windsor according to HWBOT is 2800mhz.

Here is a thread on OCN with few 4600+ oveclocks: http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/18...-4600-max.html

Good luck

I'd still make the stretch, the BE can reach 3.2Ghz on okay air cooling, which will help relieve any bottlenecks that may occur
