[hardspell] GTX3x0 info exposed?! - Page 3

This is why I love AMD. Even if this card is amazing, Nvidia will not be able to demand the typical "Nvidia Price" for it...good for us.

What kind of PPD with this thing pump out?!!!

I could go either way. Currently waiting to see what the 4870x2 brings to the table before I upgrade video, but that said just because there is a rumor of this doesn't make it true. Anyone remember all the crap about the 2900XT that ATI put out that turned out to be complete crap for the most part? It also happened when they were scrambling cause they couldn't compete with the new competitions card. I'm skeptical that Nvidia is just sitting on a card to kill ATI and didn't release it. Especially at this point when they aren't killing the competition on price/performance.

This is great news for Nvidia, not so great for ATI. I think Nvidia's about to claim the throne again. ATI will get their dominated ass handed to them.

And no, i'm not a fanboy.

GT200 shaders differ from those on G80/G92. If you take a close look and read some complete reviews of GT200. Shader architecture remains the same tho they are improving different perspectives. So if GT3x0 will come out it will have shaders like GT200.

I do not think that is the case. If Nvidia had to revive an older card on a more efficient platform (55nm) to even compete with ATI's better offerings, i do not think that is Nvidia "playing" with ATI.

For a next generation card, this does not look fantastic imo. ATi rushed from 3xx0 series to 4xx0 series, however it payed off. Nvidia, i'm not sure. still looks like a very nice card, although if ATi match the increase from 3 --> 4 series with their 5 series, then it might be a familiar story.

Both ATI and nVidia are playing the waiting game on sub 55nu chips so I discount nVidia and just blowing hot air for the mean time.

Changing the fabrication process, Adding DX10.1 API (wasn't there an article about this), changing bus width, going to GDDR5, solving the "crisis" with G84, G86 GPUs. I suppose it will be released next year (or maybe at Christmas time).
The problem is that DX11 is planned for 2009. R800 is planned for 2009.

Direct3D 11 is currently under development and will be presented at NVISION 08 technical conference on August 26, 2008.
And releasing a card months before next major DX release is like suicide IMHO.

I believe this will be on time with the 5870X2 which will come the same time as this.

As TSMC is saying 40nm is out Q1 09'.

First, Nvidia is "skipping" the 55nm process for the GTX200 series cards to go right to 45nm process? This means significant arch changes, since there is no way they can cram all the GTX200 series shaders onto a 45nm process. I wager yields will be low if they rush things just like they are for the GTX200 series and hence expensive. Second, if you believe the OP, GDDR5 with a clock of 2000MHz is actually 8GHz, a pretty substantial leap considering how new GDDR5 is. Third, no business lets the other side do anything. If Nvidia had a better card they would release the better card. From a business perspective, you never let up. That ATI has a great combo of cards with the 4850/4870 right now, and you can bet that Nvidia isn't happy about it. There stock has taken a pounding, their sales projection was lowered from $1.2 billion to $850 million, no profit making company would ever let another competitor do that if they could stop it.

While this is an entertaining rumor, some of the "projections" seem a little optimistic.
