1st overclocking, how's my numbers?

Thread Starter
I just bumped up my system last night. So far so good. Here is what CPU-Z had for #s
Core Speed 2927.6 MHz
Multiplier x Bus speed 7.0 x 418.2 MHz
Rated Bus speed 1672.9 MHz
Stock frequency 2500 MHz
Should the bus speed speed be 400 or is ok where it is? All I did is bumped up the FSB 20 Mhz at a time and now I'm running at 2.93Hz. I'll see how she runs and would like to get it 3.0Hz. Thanks for any help!
Greg

You got yourself a nice OC

You can bump the Bus frequency to 430MHz to get 3010MHz, mind that you should run prime95 or orthos to check for stability for at least 8 hours (better to do overnight).

Whats your core voltage at that speed?

That's a nice OC. I think you should be able to ge 3.1 @ max.

It depends on the rated frequency of your ram, if you have 1066 ram then your fine, you could go higher if you want no problems, if you have 800mhz ram I would say either lower the clock and raise the multiplier or verify that your ram is running stable at its current setting beccause you would be overclocking it if your running 800mhz ram.
Nice overclock though, so far so good, keep a good eye on temps and vcore, try and get the overclock to where you want it and then play with the vcore to get it as little as possible to give you the least amount of temp.

Nice OC there, u should be able to make 3.1 GHz but really watch those temps and Vcore. Also sometimes the Chipset needs a bit more Voltage and u can stablize the OC better.

My core voltage is 1.328 acording to CPU-Z. How is that? So far my system is running ok. I have'nt run programs to tax the computer. What is a good program to use? Thanks for the help!

Prime 95
http://www.overclock.net/downloads/137251-prime95.html
Or Orthos
http://www.overclock.net/downloads/138142-orthos.html
For about 8-12 hours.
Edit: Orthos you'll need to run 2 instances of it to stress all 4 cores. Call up 2 windows of Orthos, call up task manager(ctrl, alt, delete) click processes tab, right click 1 instance of orthos and click set affinity and uncheck 0 and 1 and click OK. Right click other Orthos instance, click set affinity uncheck 2 and 3 and click OK and you're good to go. I like Orthos because it's easier to tell how long you've been stress testing. Prime95 you have to subtract the time you've been testing.
On the other hand prime95 will test 4 cores without having to set affinity so you can pick what you'd rather use.

Will Prime 95 do Quad core? And should I worry about my voltage?

Prime95 will do quad cores. It's easier for 1st timers to use. As long as your CPU voltages are under 1.36 you shouldn't worry about those. Make sure to keep a close eye on temps though. Keep it under 71°c.

My CPU temp is 84 degrees F. I guess my cooling system is working!
