New to ATI, experienced user pls help!

i've been a long time user of nVidia's GPUs, although i have no problems with them, this HD4870 just rocks and i couldn't help myself to get one.

but there one problem while i was using my old nVidia's gpu and drivers, i could use my monitor as my MAIN display and my TV connected via s-video as CLONE, both running at DIFFERENT resolution. (monitor 1600x1200 32bit while tv 1024x768 32bit).

how can i do this with ATI's catalyst?

all i can achieve is a CLONE running at the SAME resolution for BOTH displays. (but my monitor is limited by 1024x768 32bit tv's resolution)

btw, i'm running Vista, and they don't have this function either.

You can just go into Display Options and set the second monitor as attached, and not a clone. Then you should be able to set each to a different resolution (same can be done in CCC under Displays Manager).

but i want them to CLONE, i'm not after extended display if this is what your talking about. i was able to clone at a different resolution before (well, i don't care what reso my TV displays, but when i set them to clone, my 24" monitor will only display the tv's reso)

Oh sorry, didn't notice you said you wanted to clone them at difference resolutions. As far as I remember, CCC didn't have an options to Clone at different resolutions.

Hey, you know what? I never thought of that. My ge7400 that I have in my laptop runs 1280x1024 to my 19", and 1280x800 to the laptop monitor, can clone or span. Someone chime in!

should be able to clone @ different resolutions. try hooking up both monitors as extended, then changing resolution. Then change them so that they are cloned.

thanks, but nope... dosen't work.

been googling for hours still without an answer

nforce drivers also have an option to "play videos in full screen in 2nd monitor" (i.e. tv), while the video on the main monitor can be windowed, resized or minimised. is there such option with ATI?

Not that it matters, but could you explain to us why you feel you need this feature? I mean the lower res is still HD So it should be antiquate for watching lets say Blue Ray on both screens.
