How to Get Free Incoming Calls from EVERYONE with the T-Mobile myFaves Plan!

I found this really nifty way to get free incoming calls from anyone if you have the myFaves plan from T-Mobile! Here's how:

Quote:
T-mobile already offers some cheap wireless plans and data rates, but if you want a decent amount of monthly anytime minutes and an unlimited data plan, you're going to be ponying up around a C-note every month. Even if you don't have an unlimited data plan, you can still save money by downgrading your plan and adding the T-mobile myFaves feature. You see, myFaves allows you to choose 5 numbers in your "My Fave 5," for unlimited nationwide calling. Any call you get from a number in your myFaves group, will not be charged against your wireless minutes.

And that, my friends is the secret to free incoming calls. You see, there's this great service called GrandCentral that allows you to create a GC number that will forward all calls to any phone number you choose.

T-mobile "myFaves" + GrandCentral = FREE incoming calls!

* Subscribe to T-mobile myFaves (the "My Fave 5" plan)
* Get a GrandCentral number
* Set your GC number to forward to your T-mobile number
* Add your GC number as part of your myFaves group
* Have everyone you know call you on your GrandCentral phone number
* Enjoy FREE incoming calls and a lower wireless bill!

Grand Central is a service currently in Beta from Google: http://www.grandcentral.com/

Nope, but SMS has nothing to do with the myFaves plan. If you get an SMS, you are charged (or credited) for that SMS no matter who it's from, whether someone on myFaves or anyone else.

Well, it does have something to do with this. If you give everyone your GC number, and they think it's your cell phone number, then they'll try to send TM's to you and wonder why they don't go through. Then, if you give them your cell phone number to send TM's on, they might forget to call your GC number and call your cell phone number instead, in which case you're back at square one.

Still, very cool. Too bad I hate T-Mobile.

Yepp. I have been using GC for a while. I have to give people two numbers. GC number and SMS number. For some reason it annoys people.

May I ask why? They have always been the most customer friendly and offer very fair plans.

I dunno, I just didn't have a good experience with them when I had TMobile 5 years back... poor coverage areas, bad tech support. Plus their phones aren't as cool as many of the other carrier's.

Anyway, to each his own, not saying they're bad or anything, just that they're not my preference.
