my 8800GT gets about 30FPS on high at those resoltuions. I'd rackon the HD4850 would too.

To answer you're question there is alarge difference between medium and high quality.

At 1680x1050 your 4850 will be able to do all high with around 40 fps, seeing as how you have a good processor as well.

The general idea is that 512mb of vram is good for all resolutions 1600x1200 and under, and that above that resolution, you will need either SLI or higher memory.
