I would suggest getting the HD 4870 X2 since it's coming out in a few days.
Funny, how everyone keeps says the 4870x2 is coming out in a few days.

If mid August is a few days then guess so. But, even then I doubt that Asus and other brands will release their peticular model versions....I think were looking more at like mid September...or more for the Asus 4870x2 TOP.

Summary

Corsair is late to the party with the HX1000, and for a long time I've been hearing that they were waiting until their very exacting standards had been met before releasing such a creature. Well, I don't know about Corsair's standards, but they sure have met my own standards with this unit. It's going to take a whole lot to top this unit, and I think I'm going to be drooling over that 60 degree number for quite some time.

Final Thoughts:

The X3 is a powerful PSU that offers a great range of flexibility. The regulation is a bit less than I'd like to see but it never went out of range even under the most demanding loads and the voltages are simply the most stable I've seen in a PSU in this power range. Often times under high loads a PSU will fluctuate by a few hundredths of a volt. It's slow enough to not show up as ripple but quick enough to show up as bouncing numbers on the display. The X3 simply goes to a voltage and sits there.

I think its debatable at best which PSU is better and i know of two people who have owned both and sold the HX1000's and kept their X3. Anyways you should go with whichever you get cheapest to be honest.

Ultra is one of the worse psu companies...

They are notorious for claiming lifetime warranties that they will not honor. I know as I was one of the people who bought in good faith from them and they would not honor the warranty after just 6-months.

From my experience I would say go with Ocz they have one of the best rma departments.

Or, any other psu manufacturer for that matter except just stay away from ultra they will screw you.

Many oc'ers look at the reviews and spec's. well it's not just about specs. it is also about the what if it goes bad ...will they put the guarantee they advertise to their mouths or not.

ultra will not...period~!!!:swearing:

$200 worth of sh _ _ ....don't waste your money or your time.

Go for the Corsair, you won't regret it. I've seen nothing but good reviews about their hx psus.

HD 4870X2 is coming out August 12, and the price cuts for q9550 were supposed to happen on July 20.

Ok Great! Yea man, I also heard that those price cuts were suppose to happen July 20th but it hasn't seemed to happen which is frustrating to be honest...

Hey All,

So I decided to update my proposed build log. If you got time leave some thoughts on this thread. I'm very close to doing my build, just waiting on the Rampage Extreme and some prics cuts on the new 4870X2's that are overpriced atm on newegg

Thx
