Ok,
So this is going to be fun.
I developed a reputation around work with being savvy fixing computers.
For some odd reason, I took on the task a fixing a Vaio Desktop, SFF.
I didn't know it was an all in one monitor, pc, etc.
The hard drive failed, so I commenced to taking the thing apart. After not seing the HDD anywhere, I googled it. VGC-V517g
This dang thing is renowned for HDD failure. The highly educated people at Sony mounted the HDD in a sealed chamber directly on top of the PSU.
How smart is that? These things overheat roughly a year, year and a half from the date of first use.
I'm postting because I will update the progress, it will probably turn into a mod
Either inventive hole cutting and cooling fans, or an enclosure the attaches to the back of the unit. Right now their is no way I could buy a drive cooler, as their is only enough room for the 3.5 maxtor to wedge in there.
(BTW. Maztor's have a history of crapping out on me too
)
Here's a Pic for now. I will take an actual pic when the camera arrives back at home.
