I'm still installing drivers, and seeing how much of the hardware XP can use, but I thought I would drop this by for now:

3dmark06 is DLing...

It could be that those are 128MB DIMMs.

True, true... but I did just post my CPU-Z, so now I have proof They are however running at 400MHz... that must be a BIOS thing.

On that note, I suppose it is time to face the facts that this board cannot be overclocked, not even the FSB. I was really hopping to get the RAM up to 800MHz at the very least, the processor boost would have just been an added bonus. They should still be running at 667MHz, so hopefully that will be an easy fix. I really hate that the BIOS has a tab which states that it is for changing processor speeds, and the only option in it which can be edited has to do with the multicore settings, not the speed at all. Silly Tyan and their not believing in OCing. Cest la vie. This should still be a rockin' box nonetheless.

However, if anyone wants to prove me wrong and point me to away to OC this board, I would be eternally grateful.

nor sure how 2 overclock it, but if ur still wanting 2 cut a whole n the top of that case...

if u can take just the top part off, ur local sign shop can still cut it, provided they have a competent plaz operator.

That was my original plan, but the top was riveted to the frame. No worries, I had it cut by hand and it turned out fine. Pics are on the previous page.

I would seek out someone who specializes in bios's. It is possible that the settings are there but turned off. I wish I could point you in the right direction but not sure where to go. In the past I had a guy unlock some oc options for an oem Emachine board, and add some settings from the retail board bios. I know gpu bios are modded all the time so why not motherboard bios.

Here's an idea for a name if your a fan of forgotten realms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolth . Good luck on your build.

It's the only way they can guarantee the quality they do, by locking it down and selling products that will only work in their parameters.

I'm afraid your best option would be software overclocking like setFSB, you could try that. I don't know if there are any conductive ink mods for AMD, that's what the dual Xeon guys do.. conductive ink mod for voltage, setFSB for OCing.

By the way, sweet build! Nothing better than some proper dual-socket pounding and tons of RAM for multitasking headroom. <- Envy

Well, all I really wanted to do was up the FSB, but that isn't looking promising. I am pretty sure I have the PLL id number, but setfsb says that there is a chipset error at bootup. I havn't used setfsb in a while, and my only recent OCing was on an EEE(it has its own OC app, so I wrote everything into an ini) Could just be me going about things wrong, but I saw a few forum posts throughout the net anout this board, and not one had a confirmed OC.

We'll see. There is always research, and that custom BIOS thing is a reasonable. I wonder if I could put a different AMIBIOS on my chip... now that seems less likely. Anyway, thanks for the input everyone.

Oh, also I think it is official, I and my roomate both agree that PrimeEight is a solid name, so SyncMaster753 gets the brownie points. There were some really great ideas, and I can't believe I am deviating from my mythological theme, but PrimeEight stuck on me.
