I've got a question about the cooling... I'm going to be installing my PERC into a Thermaltake M9 case. I'm going to have 3 120mm fans in the front pushing air over the disks into the case. There's a 120mm fan in the back to exhaust the air out.... On the couple of servers I've built so far (with software RAID), this works fine.

In the PERC box, I've got the option to mount another 120mm fan over the PERC card, and I've got a couple of questions...

Given the airflow of the case, should I be pulling air out of the case away from the PERC, or should I be pushing outside air into the case?

Also, given the 120mm fan above the PERC, is this going to be be enough cooling, or will I still have to mount some heatsink solution on the card too?

Thanks for any help,

Graham

Yes, I have a 120mm fan blowing over the heatsink and the heatsink is luke warm, without the fan the heatsink, an aftermarket one, is very hot to the touch. This worked even with the stock was cool while a fan was blowing on it.

Check the documentation for RAID level migration.
Yes, it worked fine for me. I verified all files with an md5sum after the fact, too.

The stock memory runs at 400MHz or PC2-3200.

The card requires ECC but I do not think it needs Fully Buffered RAM. This $7.50 DIMM should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134334
Once again...
