Does anyone have a suggestion for a current production Intel chipset-based motherboard with onboard video that can work with Perc5i inserted in the single PCIe 16x slot? I will be using the onboard video.

I think your problem might be that your pci-e slot might be peg. Graphics only.

Ok guys i've got another problem,
i just took the perc out of my computer (and before it was working fine) and now it will work only on hard boot. Im running the latest Dell Firmware and have a Asus p5Q mother board any suggestion??

Are you able to break stuff as a result of trying?

I'm running into issues myself with my tape-modded PERC 5/i. It loads fine (was going to flash it from LSI's newest firmware to Dell's), but I lost my network and USB connectivity. Took the card out, but I still don't have network or USB.

The network LEDs light up when there's a connection and (I'm assuming) dataflow, however Windows XP reports "Network cable unplugged". USB devices aren't being recognised.

The PC is a Dell Dimension 4700 with onboard video.

I'll also note:

- I did try initially w/o the tape mod, however it wouldn't POST; just kept beeping
- I had a pedastool fan blowing into the case when the PC was on, to cool the PERC; only problem was there was a bit of settled dust in the case which became unsettled and who knows what happened then

I've tried:
- different network cables
- different ports on the switch
- removing the device from Device Manager
- resetting BIOS (A08, just realised there's an A09) settings to defaults

No idea what could be causing the issue, or how to resolve...

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Good news! Removing AC power for 15+ seconds seems to have done the trick!

how does one know if a single PCIe 16x slot is PEG only? I've looked at several boards specs/manuals and they never mentioned it
