it has one SAS connector in the back of it, so you just need a SAS to SAS cable to connect from the Perc5/i to the back of the rack. I've got 4 Core2 SSDs in mine...

I removed the fan from the back of the SuperMicro rack (its a 40mm screamer of a fan, and SSDs dont need hardly any cooling at all), and changed the jumper so the "fan broken" buzzer doesn't sound.
It's ugly....

Still waiting for my cables to come in to use it. Will flash to LSI firmware regardless tonight, and install the Megaraid storage manager...

By the way, kind of a dumb question, is it normal the BBU keeps discharging itself when I close my computer? I get the warning thing(which I know I can disable and all, just haven't been bothered to do it right now). Everytime I re-open it it goes saying that my battery is completely drained blah blah, and if I reboot 30 minutes later it skips the message.

Not at all.... the BBU should only run if the onboard cache is still dirty...

I have never gotten that message once a charged BBU was attached. It could be that your PERC has no where to write out to?

These HS come only in 5-packs for $47. I don't need that many...

Would anyone be interested in purchasing single slot heatsinks for the PERC 6/i? With some thermal pads, they would cover the RAM and massive improve cooling over the stock. These should provide around 10 times more surface area. You would need a Dremel to cut out the mounting points though.

You would have to cut a holes for the loops and hooks. It would look something like this... but cover more horizontally. This would be over the RAM.

You can then use thermal pads to contact the RAM to HS. I placed a thermal pad to contact my HS to the chip above the ROC.
