That's lame, just because he didn't get what he wanted for it doesn't mean he should bail out.

What a douche.

Be sure to report that to ebay, or threaten to do so. Seriously, what could possibly be "wrong" with his listing - oh, you forgot to put a reserve price? Too damn bad...

Yeah really, error in listing right, I don't think he could have put more detail into that listing. He definitely want like $150-$175 for it, since he said you could have a $700 card for 1/4 the price. You won it for a 1/10 the price and he wanted $175. If he wanted that price he should have put it buy it now for $175. Definitely report him and make him give you a valid reason as to why it was listed wrong.

So I emailed him threatening to dispute him. Before I bought it he said he had 8 left at $140 each. I've had people back out of me selling them stuff on ebay, they pay the money but then want it refunded... weird. But hopefully this guy doesn't be an idiot and actually follows through on his listing.

Hi,
has anybody Perc 5/i working with standalone SATA drives with CBL-0103L Supermicro cable recommended on this forum?

I just bought a pair of this cables, but my controller (even flashed to LSI firmware) does not detect any drive connected (tried 2x 80GB WD, 2x 1TB Samsung, 4x500GB Seagate). Unfortunately, tis is the only type of cables that is available in Czech rebpublic markets...

Thanks for feedback...

My issue is that I can't seem to see the card in the BIOS at all. I do see the card under the O/S though although it won't list any drives even though I hooked up a 400 GB (sata2) drive to it. I was able to sucessfully upgrade the firmware even though the guy who sold it on ebay said it couldn't be upgraded although after putting the LSI firmware on it the product name is still listed as PERC.
Did you try the 2-pin PCIe SMBus fix?

Hmmm... don't remember... I believe all my RAID5 tests were at 64Kb. Sector size shouldn't matter that much until you get to the extremes (i.e. 8kb, 1MB)

It is a standard cable so should work fine.

Is your OS detecting the card?

Where are you looking for your HDs? Are you in the card's BIOS?

Yes, my OS (server 2008 std 64b) detects this card absolutely fine. Also I flashed firmware of this card directly from OS without any problems.

I cannot see drives in card bios - and they are still not visible under windows...

Ok... It isn't an OS since the issue is on the card. Are you sure you don't see them in the card's BIOS? Any chance of taking pictures of the screens?

I have to ask... Are you powering your HD from the PSU?

So he replied and said his error was that it said in the listing that there was a bbu wire and a backplate which would have also changed the shipping costs (but not by much at all?). He's not going to change his mind and I'm not sure how I can report him because he refunded the money. The worst I could do is leave negative feedback. He also said that I live in Canada and didn't notify him that I am from there even though before I bid on the item I said I was from Canada and asked how much shipping costs would be.

Looks good, but it looks like you'll have to find a PCI retention bracket.

FYI, mine doesn't run hot at all, haven't reapplied the bracket or anything either. However, this is just a storage array on it right now. Adding 4 drives that are more commonly accessed could drastically change things.
