I just missed a 3WARE AMCC 9690SA-4I 4 Port SAS RAID Controller 512MB on the bay. She left for 171 USD but as I didn't know yet what I wanted I didn't bid on it.
This card seems to be a good one, moreover she embeds 512 MB.

What do you think?

For the two others cards, no I don't know which IOP are used...

why would you not get a PERC 5/I? I got one with cables and everything for $130 shipped. it's a 8-port SAS RAID card, which is better than the 3ware...

I'm not rejecting anything, but how would I know that you are selling a PERC 5/i?

You have to know that I live in France so do you still ship the whole for $130?

What do you mean by "cables and everything"? Is BBU included? What else?

The specs are exactly like mine. The type of ram is correct.

I don't think that He's selling the perc. He was saying you that it's possible to find a new perc 5/i (NOT the 5/ir.... the 5/i integrated) for $130.

I'm Italian and I bought mine from netherlands (ebay). Buying from the UE avoids to have to pay custom fees. I payed it 149 euros with BBU (brand new).

That's what I thought, but it doesn't work. I suspect it was damaged in shipping due to the extremely poor packaging, but I don't have anything else to test the RAM in to confirm.

My mistake, I didn't understand well what he wrote to me

I will take a look to buy a PERC 5 or 6 in European Union if the prices are as interesting as US ones.

Another question: what is the difference between the 5/i and the 5/iR?

Thanks

I am in the same boat as you, i bought my stick off ebay from a different seller and he sent it in a paper envelope! TO AUSTRALIA? Needless to say the stick causes BSOD's whenever it's put in the PERC, so i have asked for a well packaged replacement...

almost the same like between PERC 6/i and 6/iR
http://www.overclock.net/hard-drives...ml#post6758288

of course, PERC 5/i doesn't have RAID 6 and RAID 60

Well, my seller refunded my money. I hope the 2nd stick I ordered from another seller is packaged better than the first.
