It would be easier to do this. But you can still use single disks on the PERC if you want. All you need to do is set up a virtual drive containing a single disk. When you are done, make sure to NOT initialize the "RAID". It shouldn't need initialization because the drive is formatted already. If you initialize it, it will delete the contents of the drive.

>>B. or by using the spring clip from the stock heatsink, and using Arctic silver on the chip and removing the adhesive from the new heatsink
>>C. or by using the spring clip from the stock heatsink, and using the adhesive from the new heatsink
2. Attach this fan to the stock heatsink using self tapping screws (only 2 screws will engage due to width of stock heatsink)
3. Do not use this solution at all
4. Another not listed.

I am leaning towards 1C.

PERC 6/i heatsink is 40mm x 31mm x 10mm.
Cooler Master Blue Ice ($6.99) is:
Heat Sink Dimensions 37.7mm x 37.5mm x 13.0mm
Fan Speed 4500 R.P.M.
Fan Airflow 4.5 CFM
Fan Noise Level (dB-A) 22~26 dBA

You can see the type of mounting in the original coolermaster heatsink.
I mounted it on a perc 5/i. I used solution 2 (the 5/i heatsink is bigger and all 4 screws will engage.
At the beginning I thought about 1B, but the stock heatsink was better than coolermaster.

I'd double check your pin mod if I were you.

Why? Point an 80mm fan at the card and don't worry about it.

Hi all,

Quick question. I used to run a perc 5/i and used LSI Megaraid management utility no problem. I have swapped the 5/i for a 6/e and assumed that this card would appear in the software, however, it does not. What software should I use for managing the Perc 6/e???? And where can I download it? I am running XP x64.

I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. basically i had plugged in the card and in my excitment to start using it i forget to check which sata ends correlate to what drive id in the raid bios. Does anyone have this mapped out already ? (i don't want to really copy the 750GB of data off of my array so i don't have to worry.) The cables i am using are 2 Adaptec Sf8484-4 port sata.
