I am pretty sure that the firmware issue has been fixed with these drives as plenty of people are running them in raid and have no issues with updated firmware. Google it, don't go by the Newegg reviews which may be old. Ensure data is recent.

Egg reviews are less than a week old....

I am going to check firmware when I get home, have to take them off the controller and break the raid.. unless there is a way to get seagate tools to notice drives that are sitting on a raid controller. Might have to do it with their ISO.

EDIT: I gave buddy 2 of the 5 drives I added to my system, his were both CC1H firmware.

However, 3 of the 6 drives I have are older... could be a different F/W version. Have to verify this, I also had the slow write issues with the previous 3 drives.

The firmware revision is visible from inside MSM. It's the Revision Level. Mine are both SD1B.

That is not at all what I would expect. I'm testing the other right on the Perc 5/i now and will test the drives on the ICH9R later today when I get home.

Bios boots up and says poweredge so I assumed Dell, and they're on version 5.2.2-0072
