PERC 5/i RAID Card: Tips and Benchmarks - Page 373

I know this may sound trivial and repetitive... but please think of the Raid itself! its Redundant!!

Is this the correct SFF 8484 cable for a PERC 6i ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-New-32-Pin-...3589238c7#shId

Description says this is the right cable for PERC 5, but, -just in case- and please forgive me if my question is trivial... will it work with the PERC 6 version? Common sense says yes... but since the average time until I get them on my hands probably exceeds 30 days, I will be pleased if someone assures me that this should work flawlessly!

Thanks in advance,
regards.

Hello,
Does anyone have schematics for connecting LEDs on the card?
Maybe a picture of the card on with the leds?
Best regards.

Do you guys have any setting suggestions for 2 short stroked 750gb F1's in RAID0? I'm backing up tonight and doing the installation when done.

Stuff like stripe size for instance. I do have alot of movies and stuff but I mostly game and to a small bit of video editing.

@DJZeratul: thanks!

@MasterShake: You probably know this better than me but... if you're a windows user, remember to set the correct alignment and offset for the partitions, using the ms diskpart tool. Now that I think of, windows Vista and 7 already do this automatically if I'm not wrong...

I'm looking forward to get my PERC6 soon! Although I still need to save $$$ for the Disks, I'm going to learn a thing or two from just messing around with the config

Thanks. I will be doing the partition from the windows install window. I'm guessing I should work with a smaller stripe size for optimal performance?

Thanks for the tip. I went with 64kb.

My system boots a bit quicker than with the onboard controller but it takes a bit to get past Perc's bios screen. Is there any way to get past that faster?

I can't find any place which sells the U8735 BBU and cable for any cheaper then this:

http://www.epartsandmore.com/product...roducts_id=327

Anyone have any other suggestions? Is ~$45 about right? Any local stores that people know of which you could grab these from?

The cable for the BBU seems to be very hard to find. I got my Perc 6/i in today and I'm migrating all my hd's to a bunch of split up HDs for a while so I can make a new raid 5 volume. I got the card for $58 shipped, got 2 free pci brackets that fit it for prototyping from some company online, and the cables were about $18. Looks like over all it'll end up being around $115 with the BBU/cable. I certainly can't complain.

Where did you find the PERC 6i for $58? I would love to get my hands on a few at that price.
