I used thermal tape to mount that HS.
I was thinking for the main chip that has the Al HS on it, I will take 1 of those EnzoTech HS and cut it down to the size of the current HS, and just replace it.. from the looks of it I can probably just remove the bar off the stock HS and use pressure from it to just hold the Copper HS on with some thick TIM... then have a fan over those HS's

as for that secondary chip, I don't have thermal tape... is there any other way to ensure it sticks other than epoxy/adhesive?

Also, what mobo do you run it in?

Is #5,#6 pin-mod applicable (and required?) for this card?

What LSI card is equivalent to Perc 6/i?

Thanks!
I'm running it on Asus M2NPV-VM in PCI-E 16x slot.

I can configure the array in the BIOS (640GB x 5, RAID5, no hot spare, 200GB bootable and the rest for data.)
I guess you can cut the cable from SuperMicro and rewire it. The cable from StarTech works fine when I connect directly to the drive or use it with SuperMicro drive cage.

I'm not quite sure the equivalent LSI card. According to this PDF file (http://www.dell.com/downloads/global...0255-Dixit.pdf), it is LSI 1078 ROC, RAID-On-a-Chip.

Let me know if there is any app to control. Dell OM won't load unless it is on a Dell PE box.

Best $94 I've ever spent. Now I just need some SATA converters and a PCI bracket.

Thanks, when I was talking about pin-mod I was referring to SMBus issue .. however you are running it in AMD board with nForce chipset, so it most likely won't be an issue for you..

I have not installed a heat sink on the card, but I do have a 120mm Lian Li fan from a rocket fish case blowing directly across the card extiting air out the slots above and below the card. The heatsink was very warm and the other chip was very hot, with the fan the heat sink feels just above room temperature and the other chip is warm to the touch. I just order a Coolermaster 932 HAF and Im not sure if I will mount a fan there or if the large side fan will cool it enough if I put some larger heatsinks on it. I checked it while the harddrives were going all out (the SAS drives are lound whe they are accessing.)

Ive have 2 SAS drives and my friend is sending me another. The only change I had to do was to mod the connections on the SAS drives there is a piece of plastic with some copper connectors. I bent back the connectors and cut away the plastic and made sure the connectors were not touching and the drives work fine.
Here is some benchmarks of 2 73BG 15K SAS drives.
