What about Possible LSI Firmware flash? Wouldn't that take care of the problem?

The new PERCs and the 9260-series cards seem to be pretty similar prices - until those Dell cards start appearing on eBay for sub-$200 like there predecessors you might as well just buy the full retail LSI products.

And even when they do, they probably will go for even less than that if they're still blocked. That "Dell certified" bull==== is really going to screw with the secondary market for those things, and make it much harder for companies to decommission current servers.

Well, at last i managed to finish my setup. I got one BBU on the way, because the other one was faulty, so this is it :

this is with 2 Vertex SSD's in Raid-0, 64K stripe, Read Ahead, Forced Write Back Cache and Win 7 x 64 Installed (OS-Disk), and the original 256MB Ram that the Perc came with (512MB incoming in a while)

Firmware is the last Dell one (0072) and drivers installed by Win 7 automatically.

Obviously the 100MB Crystal is showing Cache-RAM speeds, correct ?

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that. However, for my specific motherboard, even thought I have set up a few VD's in the Perc BIOS, when I go to the motherboard BIOS to select a bootable HD, it sees the Perc 5/i as the only bootable item. The only place where I can choose a bootable VD is on the Perc BIOS and I know I picked the right one.

Can the Perc 5i take 512, I thought(probably wrong) that 256 was the max. What size vertex's?

2x30GB Vertex, as seen in Crystal 58GB total.

256MB is the standard RAM module, 512MB is the max.
