It is possible... it's called RAID clustering and some older generation SCSI RAID cards had that feature. I haven't seen any SAS/SATA controllers with that feature just yet.

However, one could always use software RAID-0 over two volumes that are each on its own controller. For non-parity RAID levels, the performance should be quite good.

That sounds like a plan.

Seconded... I'm about to build a new SAN at work, and I'm probably going to be loading up the server with 4 of the H800 cards and hanging off probably a dozen MD3200 and MD1220 boxes on a Windows 2008R2 server. I'd love to get some proper tests set up so that I can get some benchmarks for the setup.

Well, after much tooling about, I finally bit the bullet, and bought a Biostar TA970GXBE and a Semperon 140 (2nd core wont unlock - bummer), and it worked first time. No pin mod or anything required. It's now running away serving my HyperV cluster.

I could probably have managed to get away with a cheaper board, but I needed one with 2 spare PCI slots after the PERC was installed, and most of the ones at the egg would only have had the one spare slot (I've installed a couple of 2 port GB network cards into it). This is my first AMD build, and it was very smooth. My hardware b!@tch, sorry girlfriend, has fallen in love with the AMD headsink - she hated the Intel ones, always a PITA to lock down; she even preferred the GeminiII 'harley' heatsinks to the stock Intel ones.

If you go into the cards BIOS on startup can you see the drives there?
Have you got the correct type of cables? There are 2 types that look the same - one works, the other doesn't.

I hope you mean PCIe for your NICs - hanging 4 gigabit ports of a single PCI bus would result in terrible performance...

Does the PERC5 need a driver at installation time with Windows 7?
