However the unit I purchased is the "slide in" model for rackmount servers. Does anyone know where I can get a pci plate so I can install it in my desktop machine properly?
I wrapped one of those wire twist-ties around the latch on the card and around a screw on the PCI mounting bracket in the case -- the card hasn't moved for me.

Hello there everybody!

It's been a year since I got my PERC. I have 2 drives in raid0 config and I think it is time to 'enhance' the array.
My main problem is, figuring which disks to get. Raid edition disks are out of the question, since they are not available here and it is way too expensive to import them.
So, my main concern is how deal with the TLER issues, and the dropping disks.

A year ago, I read many pages from this thread and a few other threads about which disks to get. But time passes and new disks come up...

Thats why I want to ask which desktop-grade disks do you recommend me to get for a raid5 or 6 config in a perc6i

Thanks in advance!

PS: I have a simple question for all of you who are using WD 1TB Green drives in Raid5 or raid6 configurations: Are you enabling TLER with some utility? Do they work without any modifications?

Just realized this message -- I don't have a battery attached...

"...battery backed cache will not function..."

Can we use the 256 MB cache regardless of the battery (i.e. if we want to accept data corruption in case of power outage)?

Thanks!

Yes, there's a flag for "write-through on BBU missing/failure" option you can unset either via command line or via the GUI MSM RAID Manager software.

I would highly recommend either using UPS or using a BBU. They are cheap and they will save you in case of a random power blip.

what hard drives are people using?
just picked up a new perc 6/i off ebay and need to start purchasing drives for it

I do have some of the samsung HD204UI's and they seem to support CCTL quite easily
setting this using the command line from behind the perc is probably a different story.

I was a bit worried with regards to this whole CCTL/TLER business
and since I am buying these drives new
what do people recommend?
It'll probably be a raid 5 4x 2TB array.
