I was wondering which Asus P67 motherboard you are running your Perc 6i on? Also which slot do you have the Perc 6i installed in? I just bought a MSI P67A-GD80 (B3) and it does NOT like my Perc 6i... I originally wanted to get either the WS Revolution or the Sabertooth, but I got impatient and went on a shopping spree. I think I'd rather get it right the second try, rather than the third one....

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried pin-mod ? First post "SMBus Issue with Intel Chipsets"

Definitely try the pin mod, as RobiNet suggested. There is a fundamental reason why the pin mod works... because the SMBus IRQs do not match and covering the pins prevents the card's SMBus from reaching the mobo. Certain manufacturers tend to use certain SMBus IRQs so even if the chipset is the same, the pin mod is still required for that manufacturer. I'd try that first before modifying anything else.

Tried the pin mod with electrical tape, same result... If it did work, I might have still returned it the motherboard anyway, wouldn't have wanted electrical tape on my gaming PC...yeah, I know, I'm picky...lol

I have been running my Perc 6i for a couple of years now, liquid-cooled and flashed to a 8888ELP smile.gif
I'll try and up load a pic I took a little bit ago, when I pulled the card to try the pin mod.

Both cards - PERC 5/i 512MB and PERC 6/i 256MB - works together perfectly fine smile.gif for now wink.gif

System boots longer - two BIOSes need to start.
PERC 6/i flashed to latest 11.0.1-0039 (APP-1.40.252-1113) 07-FEB-11.

There is an option to turn off the BIOS - can I do this to speed-up booting process ? Or cards won't work properly ? I don't want to boot from them, not now. How can I turn the BIOS back when I want to boot from card(s)?

PERC 5/i is in PCI-E 8x and PERC 6/i is in PCI-E 4x - but when I use HWiNFO32 to check PCI-E speeds:

PERC 5/i:
attachment.php?attachmentid=210798&stc=1&d=1305536321

PERC 6/i:
attachment.php?attachmentid=210799&stc=1&d=1305536321

both are:
Code:
Maximum Link Speed: 2.5 Gb/s
Current Link Speed: 2.5 Gb/s

So both cards should have the same "max speed limit", right ?
Or PERC 5/i located it 8x slot will perform better than if it would be placed in 4x slot ?

And here is the first test (on top is info about virtual disk properties - both are the same):
attachment.php?attachmentid=210809&stc=1&d=1305539528
(NTFS partition properties: 32K cluster size.)

which doesn't look very good ... 4x PCI-E slot slows down PERC 6/i ...

Or the problem could be in fact that both drives were tested together ? This isn't a problem.

and HD Tach test:

looks about right... I have a 6/i in an 8x slot and a 6/i in a 4x slot and see similar discrepancies.
