Yes, I covered the pins and now I have all of the 8GB rams.
many thanks

this is the last one? right?

I will try on Win 2008 rc2
1) Download and extract the LSI flashing utility "MegaCLI - Windows"
2) Download the and extract the 7.0.1-0081
3) Place the .ROM file in the MegaCLI folder
3) Open a command prompt window
4) Navigate to the MegaCLI directory
5) Run the command: MegaCli -adpfwflash -f [firmware name].rom -a0

but it hanging

OOr, maybe I cant upgrade because I havent BBU?

Right. Try to use "MegaRAID Storage Manager v9.00-01":

Missing BBU shouldn't be a problem - I've flashed my PERC 6/i without BBU.

Other random question: How long is the timeout on the PERC 5/i? The drives I'm using have a timeout of 7 seconds and I was told the controller must have a longer timeout or issues could occur.

PERC 5/e arrived today

1st question - Am I right, that PERC 5/e DOESN'T need pin-mod ?

And 2nd question - can I install 512MB stick from PERC 5/i ? I know - no battery backup - but will it work ?
