The Dell 5.2.2-0072 firmware does the same thing. I also tried the Windows Server 2008 x64 drivers instead of the ones included in Windows 7 x64. Results are the same all around. frown.gif

They are made by Micron. The markings are:

1GB 1RX8 PC2-5300P-555-13-F0
1GB, DDR2, 667, CL5, ECC, REG

I scoured Ebay for quite a while before I found them. I just used the specs off of the Wiki to search for what it said "should be" compatible according to the controller spec sheet.

Any DDR2-400 or higher ECC Registered stick 1GB or below with a configuration of 1rx8 or 1rx16 should work with the PERC 5/i. They also must be single sided.

So these should work:
http://www.zmaxtech.com/mt9htf12872pz-667h1.html (same as I bought)

http://www.ramexperts.com/1gb-ddr2-667-pc2-5300-ecc-registered-1-8v-cl5-240-pin-single-rank-dimm-memory-1rx8.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse

UPDATE:
Megaraid Storage Manager shows the card as only having 512MB even with the 1GB stick installed. I am thinking it my just be a hardcoded max for this card to show as the 1GB stick does show different/higher performance than with the 512MB stick.

I hope somebody can help me.
so, i have a 5/i with 512ram. my operating system is win 2008 r2 enterprise.
Yesterday the system is in good health. Today morning, the Physical mem: 98% full of 8GB.
I use this machine for storage system. only data... 8 (500GB)disk in raid 0.
maybe my setup wrong?
kb.JPG
or, when the machine write to the disk, the whole data writing to the memory?
the system automatically manage the paging file size only for the system disk... and there are not paging file on the other disks

and this is my perc:

I'm having a hard time understanding what you need help with or what you think is wrong? are you concerned that your memory is 98% consumed? are you concerned about this because you're not running that many programs and you're wondering where all that memory is going? Is that your question?

If so, and I'm not a Windows expert, but in Linux, any free memory is aggressively used to cache files from the file system. when the memory is needed, the cache is freed for use by programs. this makes more efficient use of memory when it is not in use and considerably speeds up disk access to frequently used files. I expect that Windows probably does the same thing... does your memory utilization indicate the break down of the memory? Does it indicate a huge amount used in caches and buffers?

If that's not it, do you see any processes in the task manager that is consuming a lot of memory?

again.. not exactly sure what you're asking here...

And? There's no connection between the two. Open up the Task Manager and see where your RAM is going.

How are you measuring performance?
