I'd have to do a search to find the data sheet, but that is what is listed.

Thanks

Hi,

I dont have a PERC card but a HP P212, they both need battery backup for the cache to get the most out of them,

I just got a battery for mine today, any idea how long they take to charge? (could be similar type of battery?)
its been charging for about an hour and a half.
Cheers

I've had 3x1GB Seagate ST31000528AS raid0 on AMD SB850 southbridge, and have recently put PERC 5i into my computer and rerouted these 3 disks to the perc card. I wanted to import configuration, but I couldnt. That option was grayed out both in card's bios as well as MegaRAID Storage Manager. I updated the card's firmware to 7.0.1-0083_SAS_FW_Image_APP-1.12.330-1300.

Is this normal behavior, or could something be done to remedy this situation, as I'd rly like to have this raid on perc controller, as then it would be flexible and upgradable, whereas now on this AMD chipset, it isnt. Whatever I may want to do, I'd first have to destroy the raid0, cant expand, cant change raid lvl, etc. no flexibility whatsoever.

i think you have to use the same "controller" to keep the raid. as you are moving from amd south bridge to a perc 5i i don't think that's how it works, or so i think. i had a raid 0 when a motherboard died and all i did was fine a board with the same south bridge and it worked fine.

Yeah but I seem to remember that someone said (in previous pages of this thread) that you can import foreign configurations on your PERC 5i card, and that those configs turn out to work just fine.

A foreign configuration is a configuration from another PERC controller. You can't import a RAID configuration from another vendor, it is not supported in any environment that I know of (outside of data recovery environments).

Woo just won my second Perc 5, now just got to find a motherboard that has two PCI-E x16 and upgrade one of my fileservers to it.

Just wondering what kind of wattage do these cards require?

Per http://techhead.co/running-vmware-esxi-on-a-home-lab-hp-proliant-ml115-g5-with-a-dell-perc-5i-array-controller/ (I hope linking to another site isn't frowned upon) the PERC 5i uses about 19 watts. Having said that, I had a PERC 5i (now using a 6i) running with an Intel Q9550 on a 350 watt power supply with 4 x 1 TB F3's, 1 x Velociraptor (now a 15k 2.5" Fujitsu SAS drive), 2 DVD burners, and an inline pump for my water-cooled setup.
