I don't know if anyone will see this edit but...
These cables listed here, I'm wondering... since this is a SAS raid controller, if I were to buy some used 15k rpm SAS drives, would I be able to connect them with this cable listed above here from the previous post, or would I have to buy a different cable?
Using these on my newly purchased PERC 5i raid controller, that is.

you can't, if u planing to buy sas drives, then buy this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAS-SFF-8482-SFF-8484-SAS-4i-Raid-Card-SAS-32Pin-TO-SATA-29-hard-disk-1M-cable-/120774718308?
it work for both, sas and sata drives...

Cool, thank you very much, gives me more options (sas or sata). Cheaper too... I just wish it was sold in the usa, shipping from china takes forever.

See if he/she has any more.

Ciao All.

I have updated the controller driver in win2008 r2. Dell perc 5/i

This driver is the latest driver, right?

It has newer driver for the disk drives? Or only the default which is very old...

I've been reading back through the pages of this thread.. (although I'm only on page 560 at the moment) and I haven't seen it yet... does the Dell PERC 5i support online array expansion? rather, can I buy another disk later and add it to the array and expand it's capacity without losing the data already stored in the array?

Can you do that on Raid0 settings, or only on Raid5?

I've done it on RAID 5, I am pretty sure you can with RAID 0 as well.

Nice, since I've had 3 1TB disks in raid0, and it kept failing on me. Then I tested all of them and found out that 1 is kinda faulty. I've put that one on scanning and repairing ( remapping). Hopufully it will finish in a day or two, and until then I can set up a raid0 consisting of 2 disks and then add the 3rd later on, after the procedure is complete.
