the first time it booted and gave me an option (i think ctrl+m to enter setup)
i did and saw the options and stuff

but now it doesnt always seem to want to show when i reboot
its not shown up a couple of times
than it does show up
im not sure if this problem will continue once i get an array built
i havent messed with the firmware yet but did have to do the 5+6 pin mod
it wont show up in device manager

might not be important but i noticed in the first post that it mentions hit d to not be told about the battery warning and than it shouldnt tell you again
every time it boots and recognizes the card it has the battery warning
anybody have an idea whats wrong
i need to get this card back to the ebayer if its broken

My controller doesn't seem to detect any physical discs. Any possibility that the tape mod would fix this? I've got an x58 motherboard.

Does the card initialize at startup and does the bios see the card? If no, then yes you'll need to tape/nail polish part of the pcie connectors. If it does, it may be a cable problem as a lot of people in this thread bought cables that did not work.

BIOS does detect the card.

and what are you using for cables? I don't know if you went through the whole thread or not but a lot of people were having problems with the straight-through cables that are mentioned to be used in the first post. IIRC you should be using crossover SFF-8484 cables. I've used Kingwin ones as well as the ones you can find on ebay for $12 shipped, and all of them have been fine.

AFAIK, crossover cables only work if you are going from the card to certain hotswap backplanes. I bought crossovers and they didn't work. I then bought straight-thru and it did. I haven't seen anyone having problems with straight-thru's but rather crossovers.

Either one of these will work
