The P45 chipset supports either x16 or x8/x8. Just make sure you force the PCIe mode to x8/x8.

If anyone with 4 WD6400AAKS and Perc 5/i please post your bench mark thanks, i am pretty annoy Perc5/i can't keep up with onboard.
Well I actually created the array in the bootable BIOS tool, as I had to create the array to install Vista. I was saying that I actually formatted and partitioned using Vista's installation formatting tool.
I've heard people say that putting the OS partition at the beginning of the drive helps speeds..........however I'm new to RAID so I'm not really sure.

Correct.... if you notice any HD/array performance chart, it is always downward sloping. This is because the best HD performance is on the outer edge of the platters and decreases as it moves inward. The RAID5 chart above shows performance going from 125MB/s to 75MB/s. Placing the primary partition at the outer edge will allow it to run closer to 125MB/s

Interesting....I'll have to check that out.

So if I was to get out a bootable USB version of GParted could I resize my OS partition and physically select the edge of the platter? I could then partition the rest of the drive as RAID 0 or 5.
I also have to configure my RAID5 with the enclosure whenever Provantage decides to ship my damn cables.....special order FTL.

Did you do the pin mod? Did you cover any extra pins by accident?
