Getting low fps with 9600GT OC

Thread Starter
hi de hi,

I very recently bought a PNY 9600GT OC. After installing it i thought i would test out the awesomeness of it in css but to my horror i was getting less fps than i had been with my 7600gt

7600gt - 60-100 fps at least
9600gt - 20-60 fps at most

i dont understand whats going wrong

Ive tried installing the latest driver for it but that hasnt helped

Thanks in advance for any help or if anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it.

thanks,

Andy

PS: sorry if this has been brought up before i tred searching for it but found nothing anywhere.

You have your PSU PCI-E connection on the card right? Cause if your PSU isn't up to it, you'll get shut down and poor performance. Mind that the 76/86 lines don't use PSU connections so they can preform without it.

its has got the 6 pin connector and i have plugged a 6 pin from the psu into it.
however in the box it came with a double 4 pin into single 6 pin connector, should i use that instead? will that be better? also i have a 500watt psu is that enough?

It is. But if your 12V rating isn't high enough, you aren't really going anywhere.

Sticker on the side of your PSU

Also, I've never heard of your PSU before, so it might be poor quality

EDIT:I just checked...your PSU is rather cheap and there's very little info on it
