Any advice?

Screw one side down just enough to latch it before moving to screw the other side down to latch it as well... then alternate giving each screw a full turn... that'll both prevent one side rising up as well as ensure proper, balanced spread of the TIM

Dont screw down one completely before starting to screw the second one, once both are slightly screwed in the plastic holder, screw them down completely.

EDIT: Got beaten to it, dang!

Well, unfortunately when I was trying to use the screw-down bracket that came with it, one of the sides got stripped and wouldn't hold the screw. So I just use the clip bracket instead--and it seems to work just fine. I'd prefer to have been able to use the screw-down bracket for peace of mind (since the clamp-down one does have the chance of coming up-clamped), but it's fine. Do you have the clamp-down bracket?

Just enough to latch it? - Don't understand, explain please

Cheers

also I hadn't fully screwed it down, only a little went to push the other side down and the screw popped out from the slightly screwed down side.

EDIT: I have the clamp down bracket but is that not for AM2?

What they mean by latch is screw it enough so it holds then push down on the other end and screw so you don't have the full pressure on one screw and you don't strain it when you start to screw the other. Like get a fourth of the screw screwed in and then get the other one in and then do one by one full rotations until both are secure.

You can use it with the 775 bracket too, there are clips on the bracket that allow you to do so. Or you can be like me and use both

This is the exact same thing that happened to mine, which stripped the threads, and the screw would never be held in after that...

And the clip-down bracket will (should) work just fine on a stock S775 HSF mounting bracket--it should anyway.
