I guess rightfully so.... this MB is JUNK. I have tried 4 different bios and NONE of them OC-ed. I set the multi to 9 and it would work on stock settings with F5 bios. F-2-3-4 locked up just typing on this site. JUNK STAY AWAY. tHIS IS BEING rma-ed monday. Now what MB to get
I'll end up going back to Asus i guess,I wanted to try something different. I have 3 other Asus comps and didn't have any problems what so ever. Is what makes me mad is i built my father his first computer with a gigabyte board and pray that it doesnt act up
If I didn't want to OC i wouldn't of ever came to this site and i would of bought a Intel MB. Yeah I know i'm sounding
but Ive been working on the comp for two weeks everyday after work trying to keep it stable at stock settings:swearing::swearing: I didn't need a new computer I just wanted to get into the core2. I thought i'd return it to newegg and they want 65.00 in restock fees not counting the shipping i'll have to pay to send it back.
O and i CANT return the 7200 CPU so i'd be stuck with it,grrrrrrrrr

65$ for a restocking fee... I think you mean 6.50$? It's probably because P43 is uncommon/less main stream so they don't really develop that good of a BIOS. Besides, it's a new chipset that no one really uses so it's bound to have kinks. Grab a P35-DS3L. Mine is awesome, except for a slight,rare issue.
E7200 is a good CPU. Just return it to Newegg or where you bought it for a refund and get a DS3L.

it was put out that the p43 chipset will be the crapped out version of the p45 and very limited in overclocking. should have did a little more research.

I had trouble trying to get this board to overclock when I got it. For a while I could not get it to overclock by as little as 1MHz as it would just do the reboot stuff and revert to stock settings. The memory multiplier caused my troubles and on different bios versions. On the right side of the screen in the bios when messing with the memory multiplier it has a few different lines referring to the different straps such as 266, 333, and 400MHz. For a 266 strap for instance, use the various multiplers that end in "A".
I have my memory multiplier set at 2.5A (I'm currently using a 312MHz bus). Any other letter will not let the machine normally boot but will restart it at stock settings. If you set the FSB to 400, then you have to use the letter associated with it to get the machine to run which is D I think. The RAM multiplier will have to be 2D (for 800MHz RAM). I have not had any more trouble since. The older Gigabyte boards I've tried did not have the various letters associated with the memory multiplier, but just 2, 2.4, 2.5, etc.
