****....i figured what was causing it not to work........
When i disable Catalyst A.I it doesn't apply HDR with AA in oblivion but when i turn it on with the standard setting it applies the AA. WHat's going on? driver bug? someone needs to report it... |
I doubt it's a bug. Sounds more like an intentional limitation on the part of ATi's drivers.
Regardless you should only disable Cat AA in extreme cases. Most of ATi's driver optimizations are linked to it.

I would recommend you to use aa+bloom, because hdr looks quite unrealistic in oblivion, unless you tweak the settings in your ini a lot... at least that's my opinion.
Here's a comparison between no aa + hdr and aa + bloom. (If you don't speak any german
: first post, second pic is the bloom one, first post third pic is hdr)

Just use this for your blur shader settings, they make bloom look more like hdr:
[BlurShader]
fSunlightDimmer=1.0000
fSIEmmisiveMult=1.0000
fSISpecularMult=1.0000
fSkyBrightness=0.7000
fSunBrightness=0.0500
fAlphaAddExterior=0.3500
fAlphaAddInterior=0.8500
iBlurTexSize=256
fBlurRadius=0.0600
iNumBlurpasses=1
iBlendType=2
bUseBlurShader=1
If you somehow manage to run hdr+aa, then use these settings, they make hdr look a lot better... (don't change the normal blur shader in your ini then)
[BlurShaderHDRInterior]
fTargetLUM=1.1000
fUpperLUMClamp=0.9000
fEmissiveHDRMult=5.0000
fEyeAdaptSpeed=15.0000
fBrightScale=1.5000
fBrightClamp=1.4000
fBlurRadius=7.0000
iNumBlurpasses=2
[BlurShaderHDR]
fTargetLUM=1.1000
fUpperLUMClamp=0.9000
fGrassDimmer=1.1000
fTreeDimmer=0.9000
fEmissiveHDRMult=5.0000
fEyeAdaptSpeed=15.0000
fSunlightDimmer=1.2500
fSIEmmisiveMult=1.0000
fSISpecularMult=1.2000
fSkyBrightness=0.8000
fSunBrightness=0.5000
fBrightScale=1.5000
fBrightClamp=40.3500
fBlurRadius=6.0000
iNumBlurpasses=2
iBlendType=2
bDoHighDynamicRange=1
