meh, a google search didn't have any results for a Wow-Pen Joy review... so I decided to write one up and post it here for all those people who need or like to use ergonomic mouses since I got my hands on one before its official ship date. Plus... this might help me get the 35 rep required for the B/S/T... I'm tired of having to 'proove' myself on so many forums to buy and sell stuff... but meh, oh well, this seems like a nice place... anyways...

Wow-Pen Joy Ergonomic Mouse
This mouse will retail at $30 USD when it ships sometime this month and will work with: Microsoft Windows XP & Vista, Linux and Mac OSX. It has 5 buttons and has an optical resolution of 800 DPI. It weighs around 4.6 ounces and is available in multiple colors.
1-1. Technical Specifications
1-2 PC Requirements
1-3 Operating Environment
1-4 Measurements
1-5 Package Contents
The packaging of the mouse is typical of a ported Asian product with basic graphics and decent tech specifications. However, surprisingly there are no grammatical errors from what I can see... However... one thing that turned me off to the mouse was that the back had the following phrase on it: "JOY to the computer world, an affordable mouse has come"... I threw up a little when I read it... but still, its a decent motto for a mouse... and motto's are rare to find for mice. The actual package opens easily because its merely held closed by two pieces of tape on either side... This could prove problematic for retailers with shop lifting... However, it makes it easier for consumers and it even warns on the bottom of the container: "Be careful when opening the package for sharp edges."

Inside the packaging was the mouse itself and a small black and white manual. It was double-sided with both Korean and English directions. There isn't really much to put on a mouse manual that doesn't use proprietary software.. so there is nothing to really discuss here. The English has been translated perfectly with little to no mistakes.
The shape of the mouse itself actually seems to be quite spacious and looks quite comfortable. When you grab onto the mouse, it is quite nice and the plastic where your hand is placed is slightly textured and has a semi-rubbery feel even though it is only plastic. The scroll wheel is actually rubber and has a great feel because it seems to slightly envelope your finger as you push into it. You can feel the rubber itself depress before the actual wheel does. The finger buttons provide a nice click as you depress them and can be pushed nicely just as with any other standard mouse. The model I received did not have the extra 2 back and forward buttons which is a disappointment... The buttons were replaced with a 'WOW' badge.
This mouse is beautiful... even with its weird shape, it has a nice accented design where the main black color is accented by a different, metallic color around the front of the device. There is also a small piece of plastic trim between the finger buttons and the rest of the body. Because the plastic area where you hold the mouse is slightly textured or covered with some textured material, it seems to hold onto small dust particles... but that may be because I live in a dusty home...

Is it comfortable? I can't really say it is for me... When I wrap my hand around the mouse, it doesn't fit me well... my pointer and middle fingers pass over the front of the mouse and hang over the edge of the buttons... my ring and pinky finger hang off the mouse on the mousing surface... that is definitely not a comfortable position for me... I can see how it would be much more fitting with someone with a slimmer/smaller hand though as well as shorter fingers. From my personal testing it seems that its also quite comfortable with your middle and ring fingers over the finger buttons and the pointer wrapped around the stylus part of the mouse. this isn't how its advertised, but it works well if your fingers hang off the edge of the mouse.

For me... the mouse is not comfortable. After extended periods of use, my fingers ache... I think it may very well be because of my hand size... but it could also be the design of the mouse itself...
Here's a size comparison with a Logitech G5 (Rev. 1) mouse.

I recommend this mouse for people who have a small/restricted budget and need an ergonomic mouse. If you've got large hands... stay away!
