At what resolution would X-fire be beneficial?

Also, how much of an improvement am I looking at in terms of gameplay with the 4870 over my X1900XT? Can that question even be answered?

What has ATI done to make the 4870 amazing?!
Isn't X-Fire a client you download to run games and chat w/ others?

haha. I didn't even think about that. I meant Crossfire.

Yes, xfire is an IM application for games, and it's said like 'x fire'

Crossfire is often abbreviated xfire though, and is pronounced as 'cross fire'

Forums make this distinction impossible to determine without context though.

1920x1200 and above Crossfire becomes very beneficial

Ohhhhh! haha, that clears so much up! I was sittin here googling the crap out of it, and couldn't figure it out! I was like... "this client could never need more than an onboard card, what in the world am I missing?"

No need for it unless you're running super high res games. IMO crossfire/SLI doesn't offer that much benefit at most resolutions. It's not like you're getting double the performance...

Element is right lol.. You're gonna see a difference in gameplay that I can't put into words. People will tell you that Crossfire is only beneficial above 1920x1200, however I think Crossfire warrants more power at lower resolutions, and allows you to crank more extras up, such as AA and AF.

If you don't use these, Crossfire probably isn't for you, but regardless of resolution Crossfire will boost your frames and performance, and future proof you.
