The Antec 300/900/1200 Owners Thread - Page 258

Anyone with a 902 having problems with higher temps?

I replaced all the tricool fans with Scythe GentleTyphoon 1450's and another GT1450 on the side panel, and the top fan runs at full speed.

So far, CPU temps idle/load 5C higher, and GPU temps idle/load 8C higher. My old junky Apevia case had lower temps, but the 902 has noticably better airflow.

Here is how mine is setup:

|........|< 3.5" bracket (holds a 2.5" laptop HD)
|........|< Optical Drive
|........|]-Hard Disk
|........|]-
|........|]-HD cage
|........|]-
|........|]-HD cage
|........|]-
|........|< empty

The bottom HD cage blows into the space between the PSU and GPU, and the top HD cage blows directly onto the GPU and the bottom of the CPU heatsink. The side fan blows directly onto the GPU. The rear/top fans are exhaust. I set this up to get max airflow onto the GPU, but the CPU gets a good amount of air too.

Could it be that the PSU and GPU fans are causing a deadzone between the two? Any suggestions to lower temps?

If this pans out I may have to do some searching online to see where I can get this mythical beast.

Here is a pic with the misalignment taken care of with a little cutout (not mine):

It has pics although not mine. Mine is all assembled but it is just like that one with the same clearance issues.

got mine from Fry's.com for $50 shipped, so far I'm impressed but I am having problems with the 2-120mm CoolerMaster fans I put in the front. They make a humming sound but it is annoying because the noise is like a repeating pattern, kinda sine wave like.

Okay, I finally finished building it last night (at least, building 2 days ago, cable management yesterday).

It looks like a mess on Pic 2 & 3, but Pic 4 looks way better according to me haha .

You planning on doing just the window or you got more in mind? Myself, had I the tools, talent, and space to do it would suggest the following:

a. Window
b. PSU hole for airflow in bottom of case
b. CPU backplate hole
c. Cable routing holes
d. Removing top two 3.5 bays, to allow for clearance for a HD 5970, while still being able to use the bottom 4 bays. 'Tho I would be tempted to cut that down to 3 and use one of the 5.25 bays up top for another drive.

This will give you an awesome 300 case with lots of options.
Yeah, I would love to do the stuff listed above, but I have no idea when I would (and I'm kind of overcautious about using the dremel since I'm really just starting out with modding) --

Cable management is getting done when I get my modular power supply in though --

Pics available on this thread... mind the dust and poor quality (and poor cable management )

Can I use a drill to cut holes into my 900 for all the psu cables to go in the back? I know a dremel is what I'm supposed to use, but I don't have the money for that.

If I had not seen it with my own eyes I never would have believed it. Talk about a stealth update of the 300.

Thanks for the info and pics!
