Sounds like your motherboard might be reporting wrong temps, or it has mislabelled sensors.

A cpu can't get cooler than the temperature of the room it is sitting in. Air cooling (and water cooling) simply moves the heat from the chip, into a block/sink, and then into the air.
A car radiator works exactly the same way, water absorbs heat energy from the engine, moves it to a radiator, which moves it to the air.
Refrigeration (for cpus or otherwise) works differently, in that it uses pressure supplied by a motor to compress a gas into a fluid which when it re-expands takes heat energy out of the fridge/room. This compression and expansion of gas needs a big energy input (mains power for your fridge or AC). PC air or water cooling simply moves the heat energy into the air where the pc is, and the pump in water cooling simply serves to move the water around the loop.

Hope that made sense... Either way, physics.

Also this is correct, 2nd law of thermodynamics says energy transfers from high energy areas to lower energy areas. It's the same as pressure, or even osmosis. Things have a tendency to be the lowest energy state in their system. In this case, the best you can hope for is perfect equilibrium in temps between chip and ambient.

OR it could be that your mobo nb or whatever is being monitored just runs hotter than the cpu at idle. This seems most likely. Don't mistake 'motherboard temp' for 'ambient temp'

Things don't get colder as air speed increases. More air moving through a radiator than less air cools more because there is a larger volume of air that comes into contact with the hot radiator fins, thus dumping more heat into the air.
Air volume and pressure do more for a cooling system than air speed (which tends to be a bit of a byproduct of fan rpm and air volume moved).

Hi,

I have an Antec 1200.. I'm thinking about remove all the frontal mesh and all the 3 frontal plastic support for the 3 fans..

I have very damaged plastic support, and I would not mind eliminating the mesh to make the front more elegant..

for do this, I'm thinking about this:

http://www.mountainmods.com/product_info.php?products_id=405{22}137

so I might as well fix the fans with rubber screws..

I'm just afraid to buy 3 supports and then find out that do not fit in size of case..

any advice?

someone has already done this or something similar?

thanks

I own a 900 (first ver.) only modded it a little so far... still got quite a few projects to do- making a fan grill in bottom for PSU and drilling holes for cord management... stuff like that.

I've already done PSU hole smile.gif

8w9fqVtl.jpg

after rasp and sandpaper 400

59P2LJql.jpg

finally!

qivB95ml.jpg

and PSU have all space that it need for air

66YlaNxl.jpg

i changed also case feet.. I used scythe stabilizer large that are little higher so air circulates more

KTFJgEVl.jpg

at last I used a demciflex magnetic filter of 140mm

Very good idea with the magnetic filter, never thought of that.
