@ Nathan Moore, I would go for the 4870x2 personally because you will get better FPS in most games. But with a few tweaks all should be well with just the 4870 1gb

sorry for the late reply.

i did notice an increase in airflow - any removal of an obstacle is going to help. one thing to remember: those grills are there for your protection. S-flex blades are particularly sharp, i've cut myself on them more than once, and they weren't even on.

airflow should be pretty excellent with the included fans at medium and the S-flexs slightly undervolted. i expect good temps once i finish the build.

Thanks. I originally got the idea from this post but couldn't find anything on if it really made a big difference with airflow. I guess I need get those cut out before I paint this weekend. Thanks again.

no prob. i was surprised at how easy they were to clip out, i was able to use a pair of side cutters. the metal in the 300 frame is sturdy, but soft.

My sig rig is housed within a Antec 900 case, love it Too bad I have the old version with no cable management holes and I don't have a dremel either, so cable management isn't perfect.

Also, just received an Antec 300 yesterday for my 2nd rig I plan on building on my day off ( P35 DS3P, x3220,hd4850)

will have pictures of both in a few days.
