make sure the 300 supports full atx boards, and if you are going with a p45 chipset board, go with a 4850 over the gt

Video Encoding? Multi-Task? You might wanna take a look at a Q6600.

You might wanna take a look at cheaper (yet good quality) G.Skill RAM

Phase 2 should include:

TRUE + Fan,
Removing the side panel (unless the 300 does a better job closed)
OCZ Freeze thermal paste
Samsung 22"
Vista 64 bits

Later:
4x gb 4x1 buffalo firestix or update for 2x2gb G.Skill
4870 X2

Edit: Yeah, let's look at that G.Skill RAM and well, the Q6600 is too expansive over an 7200 I think if he's on a tight budget.. unless he saves alot on the ram.

Can someone check if the 300 support full atx board ?

Edit: No egg, He's in Canada/Quebec like me In fact we're very, very close.. lol newegg.ca is not fully online yet

yes the antec 300 takes full ATX motherboards, it's just tight as it's a mini-tower like my case.

Also the 4850 gets my vote. It's a much better performer over the 8800GT for not much more cash.

I would like to have the Q6600 the probleme is, its a little too high cost for the tight budget.. on NCIX $225.99, the half of the budget for the rig already..

The idea is to create a wind tunnel with air being pulled in the front and sucked out of the back. Taking the side off hurts what you're trying to achieve and is not a good idea unless the airflow isn't adequate. Even in that circumstance, adding a fan would be better than taking the side off.

The current setup with the E7200 and 8800GT cost $672,

with a Q6600 and a HD4850, $752 . I don't know if it's worth the extra 80$

Well, here's some MOBO. I don't which one is the best, really.

ASUS P5Q
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L
Gigabyte EP45-DS3R
DFI LANParty Dk P35-T2RS
DFI LP Dk P45-T2RS (expensive)

Do you think that the DFI P35 is the best ? It's not a P45 tho..

Personally maybe the DFI P35 DK is the best, only 10$ more expansive than the Asus P5Q

1. p45 support up to 1600mhz cpu fsb, while p35 support up to 1333mhz cpu fsb
2. p45 is ddr3 channel ram, while p35 is ddr2 channel ram
3. ICH10R south bridge for p45 and ICH9R south bridge for p35 (nothing big change here)
4. p45 is basic on 65nm cpu design, while p35 is basic on 90nm cpu design.
5. p45 consisted of x16 and x8 on the second pci e slot, while p35 only x16 and x4 on the second pci e slot

Well, does it worth 190$... We're going a little far from a tight budget computer. AND the DFI only list 1300mhz CPU support
